Biographical / Historical:

Anna M. Wiecking was well known in Mankato as an educator and historian. She was born in Mankato in 1887. In Mankato, she graduated from Mankato High School and the Mankato State Normal School. She further pursued education and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, her master’s degree from Columbia University, and her doctorate degree from the University of Iowa. She taught in Amboy and Mankato Public Schools before coming to Mankato State College where she taught from 1917-1956. She was also a historian who wrote for all ages.
