Description

Marian Anderson painted Focus South in 1989, the same time Will Steger and his team was preparing for their historic Antarctica Expedition. Marian said “During my visit to Will Steger’s homestead north of Ely, Minnesota, Will introduced me to the dogs and explained the positioning of each dog in his team. I also be come familiar with each of the dog’s individual personalities and their backgrounds. these dogs were friendly and interesting to observe. It is a real privilege not only to know Will Steger, but his team as well.”

In 1990, Steger, his five team members, and 3 dog teams, covered 3741 miles over 220 days in the first non-mechanized cross of Antarctica. “With six men and forty-two dogs, our team will break trail across the frozen seventh continent so that all the world will know the significant power of Antarctica.”
