Thirteen students enrolled in a museum studies course at Minnesota State University, Mankato are excited to announce a public reception to celebrate a semester’s worth of work on-site at the Blue Earth County Historical Society (BECHS). Marking the first cooperative effort between BECHS’s museum and the Department of Art & Design, the reception will be free and open to the public on Thursday, May 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The central focus of the class has been to provide students with professional experiences in a museum setting. Students were asked to develop their dream plans for updating the exhibitions in the gallery. With guidance from their MNSU instructor and the BECHS’s museum staff, these plans were scaled to manageable 3-month projects. The students developed effective ways to update and reinstall selected displays. During the reception, visitors can view the developments.
