Work continues at the History Center!

When the Blue Earth County Historical Society needed to temporarily close due to COVID-19, we realized this was a good time to tackle some of the long-awaited changes at the History Center.

First up was to have the 1960s asbestos professionally removed. After that, we could safely work towards enhanced lighting in the temporary exhibit space, multimedia improvements for the meeting rooms and re-configuring the spaces for large community groups to gather. These changes also allow BECHS to bring back some of the original building features.

While BECHS plans to utilize some designated building funds, it will take just an additional $50,000 to complete this $150,000 project. Join our $50,000 Building Fund campaign today to improve the health and safety of our community gathering spaces for everyone who visits the History Center!

Together we will inspire, engage and connect our community to local history. Thank you for being a History Hero!

It is a case of old meets new. The “old” as we bring back some of the original Newman Center features. The “new” in improved audio and visual experiences in the meeting rooms.

August goes out with a new drop ceiling and new lights. September will welcome in new flooring and fresh paint.
