BECHS Museum Manager
Rachel comes to us with an MS in cultural anthropology and a graduate certificate in museum science. She has been interested in history since early childhood and has done work with museums, historical sites, and historical societies in both a professional and volunteer capacity since 2012.
Q&A with Rachel
Q: Tell us how you first became interested in history.
A: My grandmother was a firm supporter of public libraries. Some of my earliest memories are of her taking me to the library, where my interests were primarily history and culture. Learning about history is a pastime I’ve nurtured over the years through research and experience, traveling as often as I can to see museums and historic sites.
Q: What makes you excited to jump out of bed and head to work each day?
A: I truly get a sense of joy watching people get excited about learning.
Q: After visiting BECHS, what is one thing you’d like everyone to walk away with?
A: There are multiple components to the exhibits at BECHS, and I would like people to walk away with a deeper interest in at least one element of the exhibits, something that really caught their attention and made them want to research further and learn more.
