The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Ok, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but when you have thousands of artifacts and centuries of history under your roof, keeping the sky up is important! Unfortunately for the Blue Earth County Historical Society’s History Center, the current roof isn’t quite doing the job. Rain showers and winter thaws often have staff and volunteers reaching for tarps and buckets.

Thankfully, a solution is on its way – a new roof! Work has begun and the final result will be a new adhered 90 ml EPDM membrane with new tapered insulation system making the History Center water tight AND more energy efficient.

While a generous grant from the City of Mankato and support from the Edward McLean Estate covers the majority of the expenses, there is still $40,000 needed to fully fund the project.

Donate to the BECHS roof fund today. Not only will you keep the sky from falling, but you will be preserving and protecting local history!
