Marian writes, "This last piece in this series depicts the young man and his mature dog. They are in a new duck boat push poling to shore next to the old boat partly submerged at the shore line of the family marsh." -

Marian writes, "Just as this man's father once taught him the ways of hunting, he now shares his experience with his own son, soon to be a man. The boy holds the shivering pup closely as they both await this new adventure. The breaking of formation and the circling of the geese stirs excitement in the father, who is momentarily swept back to his first experiences in this very same boat as a young boy. This weathered boat has seen many opening days, but none more significant than tomorrow for this little boy and his pup." -
